How to Find H-1B Sponsor Jobs in 2026
To find H-1B sponsor jobs in 2026, start with employers that recently filed for roles like yours, then apply to their current openings. Government filing data shows who sponsors, for which jobs, where and at what pay. That is a better starting point than job posts alone.
Every job is from an employer that filed H1Bs in 2025. See which ones fit your resume.
Step 1: Know which rules apply to you
Your path depends on your status. Someone changing H-1B employers has different timing than someone who needs a new cap-subject petition.
USCIS says a new employer can generally let an H-1B worker start once it properly files a non-frivolous petition. The worker must meet the portability conditions.
If your job ends, you may have up to 60 consecutive days to find work, change status or leave. The period ends sooner if your validity ends first.
Moving from cap-exempt to cap-subject work requires the cap process. That means electronic registration, typically in March, and a start date of October 1 or later.
Universities, their affiliated nonprofits and nonprofit or government research organizations are not subject to the cap. Their roles are worth a look.
Which visas need a sponsor
Most US work visas need an employer to file for you. That includes H-1B, L-1, O-1, E-3, H-1B1 for Chile and Singapore, and TN, which needs an employer letter or petition.
OPT and STEM OPT are different. Your work permit comes through your school and USCIS, so the employer files no petition. STEM OPT does need an employer enrolled in E-Verify and a signed training plan, Form I-983.
| Employer | H-1B filings | Transfers | Median pay |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amazon.Com Services LLC | 14,047 | 2,382 | $155k |
| Cognizant Technology Solutions US CorpGC frozen | 10,209 | 872 | $110k |
| Ernst & Young U.S. LLP | 9,808 | 269 | $143k |
| Google LLC | 7,899 | 844 | $186k |
| Microsoft CorporationGC frozen | 7,840 | 879 | $173k |
| Tata Consultancy Services LimitedGC frozen | 7,287 | 353 | $86k |
Step 2: Build a target list from filing data
DOL publishes certified LCAs with employer name, job title, worksite and wage. The USCIS H-1B Employer Data Hub shows petition approvals and denials by employer.
Filter for your occupation and preferred metro areas. Note employers with many recent filings for your exact role.
Check the SECONDARY_ENTITY field in LCA data. It shows when workers are placed at another company, which tells you the work model.
Remember that a past H-1B filing doesn't guarantee an employer will sponsor a given role.
Step 2b: Spot transfer-friendly employers
If you already hold H-1B status, look for LCAs marked CHANGE_EMPLOYER. That field means the worker would move from another employer.
Employers with many such filings already handle transfers. Their HR teams will know the process.
If you need a new cap-subject petition, know the limits. USCIS sets the cap at 65,000, plus 20,000 for people with a US master's degree or higher.
How to find jobs that hire people on OPT
Any US employer can hire you on OPT if the job relates to your field. The real question is whether it will sponsor H-1B later.
ICE publishes the top 200 employers of OPT and STEM OPT students in its yearly SEVIS by the Numbers report. The latest list covers 2024.
For STEM OPT, check the employer in the E-Verify employer search. Then check its H-1B filings, so the job can continue after OPT. See how F-1 students can find a sponsor.
Step 3: Search jobs by role, not just by company
Large sponsors post many jobs across many teams. Smaller employers may sponsor only a few roles.
Searching by role helps you find both. Use the occupation titles that appear in LCA data, since recruiters often use the same terms.
ProfilePush lists US jobs only from employers with a public visa record, and shows that record on each job. You can browse H1B jobs by role.
Tools that help, and what each does
Sponsor databases are best for researching one employer. A job list built from sponsors saves you the step of finding their open roles. Either way, confirm sponsorship for the specific role. You can match sponsor jobs to your resume.
- Government data: DOL LCA files and the USCIS Employer Data Hub are free and are the original sources. They show past filings, not open jobs.
- MyVisaJobs: ranks employers by past H-1B and green card filings, and also hosts a job board where employers can post.
- H1BGrader: turns DOL and USCIS data into employer profiles and grades. Its Chrome extension shows that data next to postings on sites like LinkedIn and Indeed.
- ProfilePush: lists current US jobs from employers with a visa record and shows H-1B approvals, green card filings, E-3, OPT and E-Verify on each job. It matches jobs to your resume with AI, and its Chrome extension shows the record and fills applications on LinkedIn, Indeed and company career sites.
Searching by city or state
Use the WORKSITE_CITY and WORKSITE_STATE fields in LCA data to filter by place. The USCIS hub shows the employer's mailing address, which may not be where you would work.
Big metros have the most filings, but smaller cities often have less competition. Compare offers by wage level, since the same salary can be a different level in a different area.
Step 3b: Keep a simple tracker
Track each employer, role, sponsorship answer and recruiter name. Note whether the employer's filings match the role you applied for.
A short tracker keeps you from reapplying to employers that already said no. It also shows which roles get the most replies.
Step 4: Check pay against the prevailing wage
An H-1B employer must pay at least the higher of its actual wage and the prevailing wage for the area. An offer below that is a red flag.
For cap-subject registrations, wage level now matters too. A weighted selection rule took effect February 27, 2026, starting with the FY 2027 cap season.
Under that rule, higher wage levels get more entries in the selection. Our guide to wage levels explains how this works.
Step 5: Ask early and plainly
Ask about sponsorship before you invest many hours in interviews. DOJ guidance says employers may generally ask if you will need visa sponsorship.
Answer honestly. Then ask whether this specific role can be sponsored, and whether they support transfers if you already hold H-1B status.
Step 6: Watch for policy changes
USCIS notes a $100,000 payment requirement under a September 19, 2025 presidential proclamation for certain petitions. Its status has been in litigation.
Check the USCIS H-1B page for the current rule before you or an employer plan around it. Rules in this area changed often in 2025 and 2026.

Questions
What is the fastest way to find H-1B sponsor jobs?
Start from employers that recently filed LCAs or petitions for your role and area, then search their open jobs.
Can I start a new H-1B job before the transfer is approved?
USCIS says you generally can once the new employer properly files a non-frivolous petition, if you meet portability rules.
Are university jobs subject to the H-1B cap?
No. USCIS says institutions of higher education, affiliated nonprofits and nonprofit or government research organizations are cap-exempt.
Does a company's sponsorship history guarantee it will sponsor me?
No. Sponsorship depends on the specific role and current policy. Always confirm with the employer.
How do I find jobs that hire people on OPT?
Start with ICE's yearly list of the top 200 OPT and STEM OPT employers, and check E-Verify enrollment if you will need STEM OPT. Favor employers that also file H-1B cases, so the job can continue after OPT.
What is the best website to find H-1B sponsor jobs?
It depends on the task. MyVisaJobs and H1BGrader are strong for researching an employer's past filings; ProfilePush lists current jobs from employers with a visa record, shows that record on each job and matches jobs to your resume.
Which visas need employer sponsorship?
H-1B, L-1, O-1, E-3, H-1B1 and, in most cases, TN need an employer to file or provide a support letter. OPT does not, though STEM OPT needs an E-Verify employer.
Is the US still issuing work visas?
Yes. USCIS reached the FY 2027 H-1B cap and consulates still issue visas. Since December 15, 2025, the State Department reviews H-1B and H-4 applicants' online presence, which pushed some interviews back by months.
