How Do Australians Find a US Employer for the E-3?
Target employers that already file E-3 or H-1B labor condition applications, apply for roles that clearly fit your degree, and tell recruiters early that the E-3 has no lottery and no USCIS petition from abroad. You still need a US job offer before you can apply for the visa.
Every job is from an employer that filed H1Bs in 2025. See which ones fit your resume.
Start with employers that already file
Our E-3 sponsors list ranks employers by 2025 E-3 filings in Labor Department data, with typical pay and roles. These companies have done the paperwork before.
Do not stop there. The E-3 uses the same labor condition application as the H-1B. Any employer that files H-1B paperwork already knows the process. Browse H1B sponsors and H1B jobs by role to widen your list.
A past filing does not promise a future one. Always confirm with the employer for the role you want.
Pick roles that fit your degree
The E-3 needs a specialty occupation and a degree in a related field, or its equivalent. The closer the match, the smoother the consular interview.
Accounting, engineering, software, data, finance, architecture and many health and science roles are common. A role that does not normally require a degree, such as many sales or trades jobs, is a hard fit.
If your degree is in a different field, gather proof of relevant experience early and consider a credentials evaluation.

How to pitch the E-3 to a recruiter
Many US recruiters have never heard of it. Keep the pitch short:
- No lottery and no cap problems. The 10,500 annual cap has not been reached.
- From abroad, the employer files only the LCA. There is no USCIS petition.
- The Labor Department reviews LCAs within seven working days.
- Status lasts two years and renews with no fixed limit.
- The September 2025 $100,000 payment is written for H-1B petitions, not the E-3.
- Your spouse can work without a separate permit.
Answer the sponsorship question honestly
The E-3 counts as sponsorship because the employer files an LCA for you. If an application asks whether you need sponsorship, the honest answer is usually yes.
Use the comment box, if there is one, to add a line like "Australian citizen, eligible for the E-3. No lottery; employer files a labor condition application only." See how to ask about sponsorship.
Interviewing from Australia or in the US
Most early rounds are by video, so you can job hunt from Australia. Visitors to the US can generally attend interviews and meetings, but you cannot start work until your E-3 is approved.
If you are already in the US in another status, such as F-1 or H-1B, the employer can file Form I-129 to change you to E-3 without you leaving.
What happens after the offer
The employer files the LCA. Once it is certified, you fill out the DS-160 and book an interview, usually in Australia, since the State Department now asks people to apply in their country of nationality or residence.
Most applicants now need an in-person interview. Check appointment wait times before you agree on a start date. Our E-3 hub covers costs and timing.
Let the matching do the search
ProfilePush shows each employer's visa record on every job, including E-3 and H-1B filings. You can match sponsor jobs to your resume and apply first where an employer has hired on a visa before.

Questions
Which companies sponsor E-3 visas?
Our [E-3 sponsors](/e3-visa-sponsors) list ranks employers by 2025 E-3 filings. Any employer that files H-1B labor condition applications can also file one for an E-3.
Is it hard to find an E-3 sponsor?
It is usually easier than finding an H-1B sponsor because there is no lottery and less paperwork. The hard part is reaching recruiters who know what the E-3 is.
Can I look for E-3 jobs while visiting the US?
Visitors can generally attend interviews and meetings. You cannot work until your E-3 is approved and you are admitted in E-3 status.
Do I need a job offer before applying for an E-3?
Yes. The visa is tied to a specific US employer and a certified labor condition application for that job.
Can a remote job qualify for the E-3?
The E-3 covers work in the US for a US employer. The LCA lists the worksite, so a remote role still needs a US work location on file.
